2007 - Grand Ronde voters unseated two incumbents and voted in Chris Mercier, June Sell-Sherer and Steve Bobb Sr. in the 2007 Tribal Council election.
2002 - Photos showed the continued construction of the West Valley Veterans' Memorial. The memorial was the culmination of years of planning and fundraising by both veterans and the community. Sheets Construction was in charge of building the memorial, which was designed by Steve Bobb Sr.
1997 - Grand Ronde voters elected Ed Pearsall, Val Grout and Robert Mercier to Tribal Council in an election that saw record turnout. More than 700 Tribal members voted, which was an all-time high.
1992 - Ed Larsen, owner of Spirit Mountain Store, was featured. Larsen grew up in the Grand Ronde area and attended Willamina High School. He works part-time as a logger and his wife, Shirley, runs the store. Larsen said the biggest drawback to owning the store is that people want to get merchandise on a credit basis.
1987 - Tribal Chairman Mark Mercier thanked Joann McClary and Mary Ring for coordinating the first Tribal Pageant held during the third annual Contest Powwow. The pageant selected Cindy Martin, Marlo George, Jolene Poole and Amber Cook as Royalty Court. He also cited Greg Archuleta for all of his hard work performed during powwow and the cleanup afterward.
