Candace Marie Diaz, 23, of Sheridan walked on Oct. 6, 2012.
She was born April 26, 1989, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Manuel Lerma Diaz Jr. and Denna Maria Diaz.
She was proud of being a good mother to her daughter, Jayde Diaz, and loved to sing and dance. She was an active and proud member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
She is survived by her parents; daughter, Jayde; brothers, Manuel Diaz III, Arthur Diaz, Donivan Diaz, Keenan Ulestad and Brendon (no last name provided); sister, Tajia Ulestad; and grandparents, Mazie Thompson and Mary and Manuel Diaz.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde gym. A potluck fellowship followed in the Tribal Community Center.

Donald Gene Hudson

Tribal Elder Donald Gene Hudson, 65, of Siletz, Ore., walked on after losing his battle with cancer on Oct. 7, 2012.
He was born to Gene and Gladys (Lane Bolton) on Nov. 18, 1946, in Salem, Ore. He bravely served in the Army from 1965 to 1967. He was a proud member of the 82nd and 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam, parachuting from war aircraft more than 300 times.
He was a member of the Grand Ronde Tribe and his mother's side of the family was Siletz. He was dedicated to the service of Native American people and worked as a program developer to assist other Native Americans in finding employment and developing job skills. He was a member of several Native American honor guards, the Northwest Indian Veterans Association and Siletz Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter.
One of his favorite hobbies was assembling model airplanes and sharing his knowledge of planes with his grandchildren. When he wasn't assembling model planes, he could be found sharing his love of beer and keno with his buddies at one of his favorite bars.
Don was preceded in death by his only son, Blue Hudson.
He is survived by a large family that includes his loving wife, Margo, of Siletz; his parents, Gene Hudson and Gladys Bolton of Keizer; daughter, Tamora Herrman; stepchildren, Lisa Norton and Maggie McAfee; brothers, William and Ronald Hudson; grandchildren, Chelsey and Clifford Herrmann, Michael Norton, Josh Rilatos, Trevor Norton and Madison and JayLee McAfee; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held on Thursday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siletz followed by burial of his ashes at Paul Washington Cemetery in Siletz.
Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Ore., handled the arrangements.
