Tribal Elder Clarence Dale Langley went on peacefully to be with the Lord on June 17, 2013. Dale was dearly loved and he will be greatly missed. He was 81 years old.
Dale was born on Nov. 25, 1931, in Grand Ronde, Ore., to Ivan Lewis Langley and Grace Alice Englehardt. Dale lived in Grand Ronde for most of his life. He went to work in the woods at a young age and worked as a logger for many years. He also served in the U.S. Navy. In 1957, Dale married Shirley Ann Keller in Willamina, Ore. They were married for 56 years. 
Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in his tent trailer with his family. Dale enjoyed gardening and taking care of his horses and mules. Dale was a Grand Ronde Tribal Elder and was involved in many activities, including the Rodeo Board, Fish and Wildlife Committee, Veteran's Committee and Veteran's Honor Guard. Dale loved the Lord and was an active member of the Lighthouse Church of Grand Ronde, Ore. 
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Langley of Sheridan, Ore; sons, Edward Langley of Sheridan, Ore., and John and Bryan Langley of McMinnville, Ore.; daughters, Kathy Werst of Grand Ronde, Ore., Debbie Dolan of Troy, Mont., and Ashley Langley of Willamina, Ore.; brothers, Ivan Casey Langley Jr. of Amity, Ore., George Thanos of Hartsville, S.C., and Steve Thanos and Carmine LaChance of San Diego, Calif. He has 29 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Langley; sister, Helane Bauer; and mother, Grace Englehardt.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the Tribal gymnasium in Grand Ronde, with burial following at the Grand Ronde Tribal Cemetery.
