Tribal Council OKs contract for Women's Transition House renovation
Tribal Council approved a construction contract on the renovation and addition project to the planned Women's Transition House in Grand Ronde at its Wednesday, July 3, meeting.
The contract, valued at $728,971, is with Advanced Native Construction of Aumsville, which is owned by a Siletz Tribal member.
According to the recent request for bids that ran in Smoke Signals, the Women's Transition House will receive a full renovation and a 2,135-square-foot one story addition that will blend in with the existing house.
Site work will include creating a small paved parking area, off-street turnaround, perimeter fencing, ramp access to the main floor, garden space, a small storage shed and trash enclosure, play equipment and drought-resistant landscaping.
In other action, Tribal Council:
- Appointed Alan Ham and Claudette Parazoo to the Health Committee;
- Appointed Opal Hale and re-appointed Joy Burcham to the Rodeo Special Event Board;
- Re-appointed Alan Ham to the Social Services Committee;
- Appointed Laura Gleason to the Enrollment Committee;
- Re-appointed Bobby Mercier to the Powwow Special Event Board;
- Approved the enrollment of two infants into the Tribe;
- Approved applying to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to take several properties into the trust for the Tribe, including the Cemetery Annex 2, Stimson local property, the HR Jones property, the Jahn property, the Thompson property, the Bode property and the McCarthy property.
