General Council briefed on draft 2014 Tribal budget
The general membership received a confidential briefing on the 2014
draft Tribal budget at the Nov. 3 General Council meeting held in
the Tribal Community Center.
Tribal Finance Officer Julio Martinez delivered a 26-minute
overview of the draft budget in executive session, which limits how
much Smoke Signals can report on the details.
After his presentation, there were no comments or questions from
Tribal members in attendance.
The draft budget was mailed out to the general membership in the
November Tilixam Wawa. Tribal members have until 5 p.m. Tuesday,
Dec. 3, to submit written and signed comments to Martinez at
Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, 9615 Grand Ronde Road, Grand
Ronde, OR 97347.
Comments are limited to enrolled Tribal members who are 18 years of
age or older as of Sunday, Nov. 3.
Tribal Council will adopt the 2014 Tribal budget on or before Dec.
31.
Before going into executive session, Tribal Historian David Lewis
gave a brief overview of Tribal history regarding Termination and
Restoration as part of the monthly cultural presentation.
In addition, Tribal members Jan Looking Wolf Reibach, Brian
Krehbiel, Eric Bernando, Jade Unger and Tribal Council member Jon
A. George drummed.
Tribal veterans in attendance also were recognized in honor of the
Nov. 11 Veterans Day holiday.
The next General Council meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday,
Dec. 1, in the Tribal Community Center.
Tribal Elder Julie Duncan won the $100 door prize while Tribal
members Marilyn Portwood, Barbara Steere and Chad Wiley won the $50
door prizes.
Jam and beaded necklaces donated by George also were raffled
off.
