FEAST event set for Feb. 21
A FEAST event will be held at the Grand Ronde Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.
The entire Grand Ronde community is invited to attend the event. Although the day will include a feast, it is more than just a meal.
FEAST stands for food, education, agriculture, solutions and together, and it is a form of community organizing that focuses on food. The event will be interactive and focus on the ideas and passions of community members who attend the event. It serves as a chance for community members to learn about local food efforts and create opportunities for action.
Oregon Food Bank has spearheaded the work that has occurred across Oregon since 2008. FEAST events have been held in more than 70 rural communities in the state and beyond. The conversations started at FEAST events have connected rural school districts with local farmers, created new relationships with local growers/farmers, established new backyard gardens and farmer’s markets, and generated new mechanisms for emergency food delivery.
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde is partnering with Marion Polk Food Share to hold the event locally.
To learn more about the upcoming event, contact Lexi Stickel with Marion Polk Food Share at 503-581-3855 or via e-mail at astickel@marionpolkfoodshare.org.
Please RSVP to Grand Ronde Food Bank Coordinator Francene Ambrose at 503-879-3663 or via e-mail at fambrose@marionpolkfoodshare.org.
RSVPs received by Saturday, Feb. 14, will be entered into a raffle to win a new slow cooker.
