Tribal member Dawn Doar, 42, has been hired as the Tribe’s new general manager, Tribal Council Chairman Reyn Leno announced at the Wednesday, March 25, Tribal Council meeting.
Leno said Doar will start on Monday, April 6.
Doar will succeed Mark Johnston, who resigned in May 2014. Since then, Tribal Planner Rick George has been serving as interim general manager until a permanent replacement could be hired.
Doar graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1999 and received her master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix in January.
She served in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer from 2000 through 2008, leaving at the rank of captain. One of her duties, according to her LinkedIn profile, was as a battalion logistics officer, where she was responsible for providing supplies for more than 1,000 soldiers worldwide and handling receipts of more than $32 million.
Doar worked at Spirit Mountain Casino as the lead cage supervisor from 1995 to 2000. After leaving the Army, she worked for Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
“She has 10 years of leadership experience and success in extensive, large-scale personnel training and logistics and budget operations; and experience with federal, state, county and global agencies from foreign countries,” Leno said.
She is the daughter of Leonard and Carol Logan and will reside in Sheridan.
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity,” Doar said. “I hope I can add value to the membership and the Tribe in serving the people.”
