A representative from Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. briefed the general membership on the Grand Ronde Tribe’s investment portfolio during the hybrid General Council meeting held Sunday, Oct. 6, on Zoom and in Tribal Council Chambers.

The 35-minute briefing was presented in executive session, which limits how much Smoke Signals can report on the content.

Baird Director Joseph Hoon made the presentation and there were three questions and comments from the membership during the session.

Tribal Elder Veronica Gaston gave the invocation. Vice Chair Chris Mercier and Secretary Jon A. George, along with Tribal members Robert and Cheyenne Haller, performed a drum song.

After executive session ended, lunch was served to attendees and council members.

Door prize winners were Jamieson Smallwood, Marianne Blanchard and Val Alexander, $100; and Deborah Good, Lise Alexander, Darlene Aaron, Naiyah Stewart and Ron Tuomi, $50.

In other action, it was announced that the next General Council meeting will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, with an executive session review of the proposed 2025 budget.
