Voices of the River seeking submissions
The Indigenous publication Voices of the River, managed by nonprofit Confluence, is seeking submissions for publication from Indigenous people in the Columbia River basin and beyond.
The deadline is Thursday, May 1.
The yearly publication includes a wide range of genres, including interviews, research articles, fiction, photography, carving and painting.
Grand Ronde Tribal Elder David G. Lewis is the advising editor.
Lead Editor Rachel L. Cushman (Chinook Indian Nation), said that “Indigenous futurities are shaped by the past and take form in the present through the continuation and resurgence of Indigenous knowledge, philosophies, value systems, and practices, giving life to dreams and possibilities for futures not shaped by colonial imaginings.”
In this volume, potential contributors are asked to consider how Indigenous people can and do come together to imagine futures not determined by colonial systems and structures.
Contributors are encouraged to attend two meetings. The first is an introductory meeting and the second is to offer feedback to each other. Pieces are edited by the editorial committee.
Authors will also be invited to participate in the launch party and panel in October. For more information, email lily@confluenceproject.org or visit confluenceproject.org/confluence-library-submissions/.
